Tips for generating more referrals

Just wanted to share these great tips I got from the CashCrate forums!

Masking
First off I suggest, masking your referral link. Masking your referral link is submitting it to a site to make it shorter, easier to read/remember, and nicer to look at. Please use any of the sites below to mask your referral link. I give examples of what it will look like.
www.Tinyurl.com
Tinyurl makes your link look like so www.tinyurl.com/fsd25fjd/ (the random code at the end can be customized if you would like to make it something like www.tinyurl.com/freestuff/)

http://www.freedomain.co.nr/
Co.nr makes your link look like www.InsertNameHere.co.nr

www.dot.tk
Dot.tk makes your link look like www.InsertNameHere.tk

*Now that you have a masked referral link, we can move onto the actual tactics!

Videos—Making videos is one of the oldest ways to gain referrals, and one of the easy and most fun ways.
Here is a list of the best sites to upload your videos on:
• Youtube.com • Eyespot.com
• Revver.com
• Vimeo.com
• Clipshack.com
• Dailymotion.com
• Video.aol.com
• megavideo.com
• metacafe.com (This one is great, its popular like YouTube and brings in a lot of viewers)
• truveo.com
• video.google.com
• vidlife.com

Video Tips:
*Make videos that explain how to use the site and some of the stuff that people have gotten from the site and in the description explain the process and some frequently asked questions about the site. Be sure to add your masked referral link to the video and description.
*For people who are new to making videos, windows movie maker is fine, but you can download a free screen recorder as well by google’ing Camtasia Studio or Hypercam. You can use either of those to record everything you see to walk them through an offer, creating an account, or looking at testimonials.
*Make sure you use good tags because this is what brings up your video in search results. People rarely search up the so use good tags like free, credit card, no, cost, video, games, Microsoft, Xbox, Play Station, Wii, etc.

Craigslist—Go to www.craigslist.com and check out different sections and put your referral link and explain what prizes the site gives out, be creative, mention if the site has forums, give a link, anything that other sites, don’t have, mention. Make it interesting and catch the reader’s attention!

Uploading—Any time you upload any type of file to the internet (I.E. limewire, rapidshare, megaupload, mediafire, etc.) put an additional text file in the folder and name it something to catch their attention and then put in your masked referral link and what to do on the GPT site.

Forums—Go to loads of different forums (preferably ones about video games and other things your GPT site can offer) and register. Become active in the community and get a decent amount of posts (50-100 posts). That way you will be known and trusted to help build up an overall positive reputation and they won’t see you as just another spammer. After you have a good post amount write a good review of your GPT site and tell them what to do and to use your masked ref link to sign up.

Signatures—Any time you go onto forums in your signature put something like “Want to get a free iPod than go to maskedreflink.tk”. People will view this in every post you make and then sign up if they are interested. Also this makes them come to you instead of you seeking them so they are more willing to be active. This way you can join the forums normally while still bringing in some referrals.

Digg—www.digg.com is a great site to get views for your blog, videos, and even masked referral links. Just sign up and submit all your sites. It will require you to write a short review about how it actually works and put your referral link in the review as well. Digg.com helps your sites by increasing their place in search results.

Chat Rooms—Go on Google and search for “java chat rooms” (aim works well also) now you can talk to people 1 on 1 and get them to register with you masked referral link. This is nice because you can instruct them on what to do and how to do it. This helps ensure that they will be active because they trust you and see it working in action.

Keywords/SEO—Submit your link to SEO. SEO stands for search engine optimization. What that means is you submit your site to search engines like google, yahoo, and ask. SEO sites are common and usually free, just google SEO and you should be set. Make sure to use good keywords on your videos, and blogs (sometimes called tags)! (Do not submit your plain referral link, make sure you made a blog or a video first and then submit that).

eBay—Make listings on eBay.com in the form of an advertisement (this is actually an eBay option now). Tell them that they can get a free “whatever” by going to your masked link and signing up. It costs about $10 to make an ad on eBay but since it has million of people using it daily you can make more back in the form of referrals. (Note this is for 7 days of your listing being up).

Commenting—Comment on other peoples blog and putting your masked referral link in the comment. That way the blog gets the views and everyone gets to see your link.

Runescape—This online game is a goldmine for referrals. Just sign up and go around telling people about your link and how it can get them a free membership. (The chat bleeps out websites so you have to say it like tinyurl(dot)tk). Another good method is to pay new players (who will do anything for items and gold) to spread your link around and you will pay per signup. Explain to them what to say and why and then let them be on there way.

BOTS—This online game is free to play and almost guaranteed to get you active referrals. Just go to bots.acclaim.com to create a free account and install the game. On BOTS you can pay cash to unlock “coins” a special currency to get extra items. Everyone wants coins and you can use eBay and Amazon to get Acclaim Prepaid Cards. Just go into the chat and say “trade me for free coins”. Tell them step by step what to do (including your masked ref link) and they will try their best to get 10 points (they are usually 10 dollars) for a prepaid card which is 2 free points for you. Don’t forget to tell them they can do it more than once to get them coming back for more 10 point intervals.

Squidoo—Visit http://squidoo.com and create a “lens” about how to get free “whatever” and include your referral link. A lens is like a review or editorial and it will be posted on squidoo.com. Squidoo will help it get onto search engines and even higher up in the search listings so that more people will find your “lens” and view it.

Habbo—Another great online game to get referrals and many active ones at that. Go to www.habbo.com and sign up. Go around chatting to people and making friends and then tell them about your GPT site and that they can order a prepaid Habbo Coins card for free. Instruct them step by step and like for BOTS they usually cost 10 points for a 10 dollar card and you will earn 2 per card they get. (Another form of special currency which is used to get special stuff in the Habbo World.)

Advertising—Make flyers and post them up around town in the park, on the streets, at local stores, etc. Just ask them if you can hang your flyer up in their store window and if they are friendly they will let you. A great audience to target is teenagers because they don’t have a lot of income and are willing to try and get some cash or video games for free.

Trade Referrals—Trade with people, e.g. “I will do 1 referral for you, if you do one for me” (but have them do some offers as well). Just go to a search engine and search referral trades and you will get plenty of sites.

Paper—Try to put an ad in your local paper. Nearly everyone gets the paper now a days and according to Family Feud people believe 50% of what is in the paper. With those odds you are bound to get some willing participants to be your referral.

Chains—Make a chain, get your friends to sign up, then make them get their friends to sign up and so on. With the modern age of txt messaging, tons of chain letters are sent daily. I am sure you have seen “forward this or blah blah blah will happen you”. Just send one and say sign up at MaskedReferralLink.com and then do some offers. If you don’t forward this to everyone you know you will flunk out of school. I don’t know, be creative.
